Thursday, March 29th, 2012

We are pleased to announce the call for FY13 Committee/Task Force Chair, Coordinator and Chair Elect applications. The application process will allow all SWE members the opportunity to express an interest in these types of leadership roles within the Society. It will also allow us the opportunity to better match our members’ strengths and interests to the needs of the Society.

Please review the open leadership positions for FY13 on the application form.  The description of each open leadership position can be found here .  Please fill out the Chair / Chair Elect application form with the requested information and return it in Word or PDF format along with a photo (headshot at 300 dpi resolution) in a .jpg file to hq@swe.org by April 1, 2012.

All applications will then be reviewed and applicants will be notified by June 1. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact headquarters at 312.596.5237.

The Women in Academia committee has been newly chartered and will need a chair and chair elect for FY13.  Continuing committees such as Bylaws and Procedures also need both a chair and chair-elect.

The Collegiate Interests Committee has been sunset; thus it is not included in the call.  We thank all volunteers who have worked on this group.

Thank you for your interest.

Great American Teach In – November 17

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Member and friends of SWE Tampa Bay Area save the date now and make plans to be part of Great American Teach-in!

The Hillsborough and Pinellas County Public Schools are looking for volunteers to teach one class or teach all day to give you a taste of teaching.

You don’t need teaching experience, just enthusiasm and a desire to share with students something about your career, your experiences, your hobby, or yourself.  The schools want you to carry some key messages into our classrooms, including the importance of staying in school and the value of each individual student.

The Great American Teach-In is a perfect opportunity for parents, business leaders, and community members to let our students know we care about them. The idea is simple – join this event on November 17, 2011, and teach a class or two, whatever your schedule permits. Opportunities are available all day long.

Contact the school of your convenience by:
